Sadly, despite the best efforts of staff at All Flintshire Credit Union I have been made aware that they have stopped trading and they have been placed into administration as of Tuesday 25th January 2021.
All Flintshire Credit Union has been a huge part of the Flintshire community for almost three decades and has provided ethical, fair, and affordable credit solutions as well as savings products to all who fit within our common bond, and the use of credit unions has grown significantly in recent times and of course the pandemic has had a massive impact on this. I understand that there are 1,919 members of the All Flintshire Credit Union in Delyn and I know that this will be an extremely worrying time for them. Especially as for some people, the credit union will be seen as a source of affordable finance.
I want to assure these members that the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) has stepped in to protect the members. The FSCS are arranging for members to receive their account balances back as compensation within the next 7 days.
You can find out more information by visiting www.allflintshirecreditunion.co.uk/ or the FSCS directly https://www.fscs.org.uk/maki.../failed-firms/all-flintshire/
There are lots of options if you need to open a bank account - you can go into a local high street bank branch, or a post office. However, if you need help I suggest you speak to the Citizens Advice Bureau.
Of course, it goes without saying that employees of the union will also be affected by this announcement and my thoughts are with them during this difficult time.
I will be speaking with the AFCU and the FCSC to ensure that staff and customers are being fully supported.
If you have any further concerns or would like my advice or help please email rob.roberts.mp@parliament.uk or phone 01352 710 232 (Opt 1).
