On the two-year anniversary of a nationwide lockdown instigated by the Prime Minster, Boris Johnson, Member of Parliament for Delyn Rob Roberts urges the Welsh Government to join with England and lift all remaining Covid laws in Wales.
Commenting on the matter, Rob said:
“We have lived through some very dark times. Like all residents and business owners here in Flintshire I remember watching the Prime Minister make his address to the nation two years ago today telling us “You must stay home”.
“Of course, we have all played our part at getting back to normal life through helping a local vulnerable neighbour with shopping, thanking the NHS workers, staying home, and getting the vaccine.
“Governments took decisive action in the early days and new laws came in to force quickly to keep us all safe. However, I have been regularly contacted by frustrated residents that the Welsh Government is moving at a glacial pace compared to the UK Government in lifting restrictions.”
Rob has written to the First Minister and the Health Minister ahead of their announcement on Friday urging them to take decisive action now. Lift all remaining laws and allow the public in Wales to feel the same freedoms that our neighbours in England have.
Continuing Rob says:
“It is important that Government continues to maintain public safety, but this should be a balanced approach. The Labour Welsh Government need to free Wales from Covid laws and let people make their own decisions about how they live their lives.”
