Delyn MP, Rob Roberts has been invited to submit an application to be involved in a Department for Transport roadside trial to find locations in Delyn affected by excessively noisy vehicles.
Secretary of State for Transport, Grant Shapps MP has extended a trial of installing roadside noise cameras which started in 2019. Four locations across England and Wales will be chosen to have the latest version of the devices installed. The aim of this phase of the trials is to develop the technology so the cameras can be used as an effective tool for enforcement in the future.
Commenting on the trial, Mr Roberts has said:
“Noise pollution from cars can be a blight on our local communities. Residents in peaceful areas are being disturbed by revving their engines and illegally installed exhausts.
“It’s time we got a handle on this problem and started restoring the peace and quite in our towns and villages.
“I would strongly urge anyone who suffers from noise pollution in Delyn from vehicles to get in touch with my office as I would like to submit an application for Delyn to participate in this trial.”
MPs are being asked to submit applications by 27th May in collaboration with the local enforcement authority.
