Yesterday in Northern Ireland Oral Questions, I asked whether the Minister of State for Northern Ireland thought of making the entirety of North Wales into a freeport.
The Liverpool City Region freeport announced as part of the UK Government's Levelling Up Agenda aims to contribute £850m GVA and create 14,000 jobs. However, I want to ensure that my constituents and people across the whole of the North Wales region are able to benefit from the economic growth that would come with a freeport status.
A number of sites in Wales have already been considered as potential options for freeports. I would argue that making the entirety of North Wales into a freeport would ensure the whole region enjoys increased prosperity.
