As part of UK Parliament Week, I want to encourage people in my constituency to get involved with politics.
Active public participation is vital in a thriving democracy and we all have our part to play. I really look forward to seeing how organisations and local groups in Delyn join in with UK Parliament Week, especially the next generation of voters in our schools.
Ways that you can get involved include:
- Join a political party - join the party that best represents your interests.
- Joining an interest group or campaign group - for example if you are interested in the Environment you could join Greenpeace.
- Sign or start a petition - petition's that receive 10,000 signatures will receive a response from the Government and ones that receive 100,000 signatures can be selected to be debated in the House of Commons.
- Engage in Youth Parliament -
- Polls opened on November 1 and will close on November 22, with the deadline to register to vote falling on November 12.
- Across Wales, nearly 300 candidates, all aged between 11 and 18-years-old, have put their names forward for election.
- Each of the 40 Senedd constituencies in Wales will elect one Youth Parliament Member, with a further 20 Youth Parliament Members elected by partner organisations to ensure a diverse representation.
- The results of the Youth Parliament Election will be announced on December 1, with the first meeting set to be held at the Senedd in the New Year.
- Stand for office - stand as an MP or Councillor.
