Delyn MP, Rob Roberts has written to all Primary School Headteachers urging them to order the commemorative book before the 11th May.
The UK Government has commissioned the commemorative book which is free for all primary school aged children. The book celebrates the outstanding contribution, duty, and service that our Queen has given to our country over the last 70 years.
However, it was decided by the Welsh Government, who are responsible for education in Wales, that pupils will not automatically receive this book, and their schools need to opt in to order these books.
Commenting on the situation Mr Roberts has said:
I am hugely disappointed that the Welsh Government has chosen to make it difficult for children across Delyn to receive their copy of this commemorative book.
Her Majesty The Queen has dedicated her life in service to our country for the last 70 years. She is an outstanding example of public service. She has seen so many changes to daily life and she has quietly and steadfastly got on with things.
The deadline to opt in for this book is growing closer - applications must be in by 11 May 2022. I strongly urge primary schools to opt in and order this book for their children. Although the form is relatively simple and to ease the administrative burden to Primary Schools, they are welcome to contact my office who will complete the form on their behalf.
Copies of the commemorative book can be ordered via an online form by clicking here.
