I spoke in the Second Reading of the Health and Care Bill which builds on the proposals for legislative changes set out in the NHS’s Long Term Plan (LTP).
I welcome this Bill which delivers the Government's commitment to providing world-class care for patients by building on the NHS’s own proposals for reform to make it less bureaucratic, more accountable and more integrated following the COVID-19 pandemic.
Yet, this Bill needs to go further to encourage collaboration in healthcare across all parts of the United Kingdom. The current lack of collaboration is already a major issue for my constituents in Delyn, and I have already written to the Secretary of State on the issue of sharing cross-border NHS data between England and Wales.
As this Bill progresses through the House, I hope that the Government considers that further collaboration on healthcare can be achieved between all constituent parts of the UK to tackle public health issues that we all collectively face.
