Mr Roberts asked Transport Minister, Kevin Foster about his views on the poor service currently being offered to residents by Avanti West Coast Trains.
Avanti won the franchise in December 2019 and took over the operations from former operator Virgin Trains. Avanti's contract was due to end March 2023 however, the UK Government extended the contract in October 2022 by six months but stated "drastic improvements" were necessary.
Commenting on the situation and the Minister's response, Rob has said:
"I was pleased to be able to question the Minister over the poor service being offered to my constituents and I welcome his response.
"Since taking over operations Avanti have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and have reduced the number of services on their timetable. I have had many conversation with Avanti outlining that although I have some sympathy for their situation their current offering is poor and they must get better.
"Transport services in Delyn are already poor and residents in our local community deserve better. I will be calling on Avanti to increase the number of services and ensure their trains are more reliable.
