E-petition 614893 was set up by Edwin Duggan in an attempt to change the law regarding the automatic suspension of parental responsibility following a serious crime, such as murder.
The petition was set up by Mr Duggan, on behalf of a family who are campaigning to introduce Jade's Law following the tragic murder their daughter Jade Ward by her estranged husband earlier this year.
The petition, which has reached over 130,000 signatures from all across the country was debated in the Houses of Parliament by MPs from across all parties today. 2,808 of these signatures were from people in Delyn.
Speaking after the debate, Mr Roberts said:
"I was honoured to be able to participate in today's debate and represent the views of thousands of Delyn residents. The debate about the automatic suspension of parental rights following a serious crime is an incredibly important matter.
"I think it is important that our law protects vulnerable people following such awful crimes, like that of the murder of Jade.
"I know Jade's family are campaigning hard for a change in the law, which if it succeeds will mean that lots of families will be saved from having to be re-victimised or held to ransom via the remaining powers of a perpetrator. Although, Jade's family live in the neighbouring constituency I pledge that they have my full support and I will do all I can to support their campaign."
