To mark World Heart Day (29th), Delyn MP Rob Roberts and Welsh charity Calon Hearts, are teaming up at Mold Town Market, to give people the opportunity to learn vital lifesaving skills like CPR and how to use a defibrillator.
On this year’s World Heart Day, Rob and Calon Hearts will be jointly hosting a stall at Mold Town Market, which will allow residents, traders, and visitors alike to learn lifesaving skills for free.
Alongside Rob’s regular stall, Calon Hearts will also be providing a variety of resources and information about what to do in emergency situations. Throughout the morning, Calon Hearts will be running demonstrations to show how to perform CPR and use a defibrillator, as well as giving local residents the opportunity to ‘have a go’ themselves.
While Rob has successfully campaigned to make the teaching of CPR compulsory in schools, Rob would like to promote the learning of such skills in all settings, so people of all ages can benefit. With Wales having one of the lowest out of hospital cardiac arrest rates in both the UK and Europe, it is crucial that more people learn CPR so they can help save someone’s life.
Commenting, Rob said:
“Performing CPR is a skill that everyone should have the chance to learn, so I am thrilled to be working with Calon Hearts to give the people of Delyn the opportunity to do so while they’re out and about at Mold Market.
“Whether you’re new to learning CPR or just need a refresh of your knowledge, I would encourage all my constituents to take this free opportunity to learn lifesaving skills and chat to the experts at Calon Hearts.”
The stall will be held on Wednesday 29th September in the Daniel Owen Square at Mold Town Market, with Rob and Calon Hearts providing information and support from 9.30am to midday.
Over the coming months, Rob hopes to organise some more formal CPR and defibrillator training sessions in Delyn, so will advertise them locally when details are confirmed.
